HANC’s Department of Driver Education is an accredited division, at the high school level, of the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County. Our course in Driver Education is certified by the New York State Department of Education, and taught in accordance with the standards set by the Department of Education and the Motor Vehicle Bureau.

HANC’s Driver Education program is offered at our Uniondale Campus (across from Hofstra University).
Faculty
All instructors are trained specialists in Driver Education. Each is also an accredited secondary school teacher, licensed by the State of NY to teach Driver Education.
Curriculum
The curriculum has been designed to integrate the theoretical and practical aspects of driving. Weekly classes in theory are taught in conjunction with the in-car training program. All automobiles are late model dual controlled vehicles.

Each student’s program is carefully arranged in order to avoid any conflict with other school obligations.
The duration of the program is 16 weeks, with new classes scheduled to begin each September and late January.
Students
The Driver Education program is open to all students who will have reached their sixteenth (16) birthday and have obtained their NYS Learner's Permit by the beginning of the course. In order to be considered for this course, each student must be given permission to enroll by a parent or legal guardian.
Driver's License
Senior driver’s license privileges will be granted, at age seventeen, to all students who have successfully completed this program and who have passed the Motor Vehicle Bureau road test.
Insurance Rates
Automobile insurance rates are currently 10% to 15% lower for graduates of this course.
Tuition
The cost of this comprehensive program is $675.00, payable in full at the time the application is submitted for enrollment.
Regulations of the Course
ATTENDANCE: Attendance is compulsory in both the classroom, and the in-car phases of this course.
PROPER SCHOOL CONDUCT, AND APPROPRIATE DRESS ARE MANDATORY DURING IN-CAR TRAINING, AND FOR ALL CLASS WORK.
For the Fall and Spring sessions, classes are arranged all day Sunday. Times are chosen at orientation, based upon when the application is received. Earliest applications have preference.
